For the first time since Franklin Roosevelt was president, you can now go SWIMMING in Onondaga Lake! For decades the lake had the dubious distinction of being the most polluted body of water in America. Well, after a HUGE dredging and clesaning project by Honeywell, the Upstate Freshwater Institute has released a report to the Onondaga County Department of Water stating that the northern two-thirds of the lake is suitable for public bathing! That’s AMAZING news, although I’m not sure I want to be the first to dip a toe in. The southern part of the lake, towards downtown, is still too polluted to swim in. Authorities say that doesn’t mean you should dive right in when the temperatures get warmer, though. There still isn’t any safe area where you csan ernter the lake as a swimmer, but the county is considering plans for a possible public beach area near the Willow Bay section of Oondaga Lake Park. The good news is that if you fall off a boat, you won’t need to get one of those” Silkwood showers” to decontaminate yourself.

What a SPECTACULAR day for the home opener of the 2015 Syracuse Chiefs at NBT Bank Stadium! The first pitch is at 2:05pm and I’m predicting a lot of hookie playing this afternoon. It’s also the first “Dollar Thursday” of the season. Just a buck for a hot dog, a buck for a soda, one dollar for a program, and a special dollar souvegnier. Tomorrow night is our first 93Q Fireworks night. Prior to tomorrow night’s game, stop by our setup in the parking lot and register to win tickets to see One Direction in Buffalo in September!

It’s DOLPHY DAY today up at LeMoyne College! This annual tradition dates back to the early 70’s and began as a time to skip classes and relax outside on the first beautiful Spring day. The actual date is kept secret until the last minute by the Wizard, a person who is chosen by the previous year’s Wizard. This person must be a senior; his or her identity remains a secret until the actual event begins. The Wizard works both with Le Moyne’s administration and fellow seniors to orchestrate an enjoyable, memorable event. Have a fun Dolphy Day!

Dear Ted and Amy,
I’m getting married in June. My maid of honor and I are having a disagreement. The wedding is a very traditional church wedding. The disagreement is about bridal sneakers! I want to wear white Chuck Taylor’s under my dress and I want all the bridesmaids to wear them as well. They would be so much more comfortable during the ceremony, pictures and especially at the reception when I’m trying to run around and hang out with everyone and dance the night away. They will show, but I think it will be cute…you can even sew pearls or bows on them to make them look fancy. My maid of honor thinks it will look ridiculous when we go back and look at the pictures and she’s pretty much refusing. I say I’m the bride and she should do what I want.
