I CAN RELATE

Amy made an interesting observation this morning. There are TWO events on Saturday that you wait and wait and wait, and then neither one will probably last very long: Kentucky Derby AND the big Mayweather-Pacquaio fight! You'll wait in anticipation, maybe have a few drinks, something to eat, talk about the big event to come, than BANG! It's over! Come to think of it, that sounds alot like my date nights with the wife…What are the odds?

HEY, WAS THAT CLAY FROM SOA I JUST SAW???
Ron Perlman, star of "Hellboy," "Beauty and the Beast" and "Sons of Anarchy," joined County Executive Joanie Mahoney and others at a news conference yesterday to announce that he'll be bringing his film production company, A Wing and a Prayer Pictures to the the Central New York Hub for Emerging Nano Industries in DeWitt. Perlman learned of the opportunity through The Film House, another film company that has plans to open at the new nanotechnology site. The actor has plans to film three movies in the area this year and another early next year. He's currently scouting locations in skaneateles for the first movie, titled "Wooden Lake", which he hopes to start filming in July. COOL!!!

HAVE SHOVEL, WILL TRAVEL
84-year-old Forrest Fenn of Santa Fe, New Mexico is simultaneously an eccentric millionaire, a best-selling author, a crotchety old man, AND the lunatic who just might make you rich. Back in 2010, he buried a treasure chest with $2 million worth of gold, coins, and gemstones somewhere in the Rocky Mountains.  He wrote his memoir, called "The Thrill of the Chase", which gave clues to finding the treasure. Clearly, that was a marketing strategy that WORKED . . . because it became a best-seller. He has also occasionally dropped other clues, like saying the treasure is 5,000 feet above sea level and, quote, "the treasure chest is wet." But in spite of all that . . . no one has found it in the five years.  Around 30,000 people have searched, he says some of them have gotten within 200 feet, but it's still out there. He just gave a new interview about it, which should drum up interest again and that's what he wants.  Quote, "Mostly my motive was to get kids off the couch and away from their texting machines and out in the mountains." Look, I can't even find the WinterFest medallion, what are the odds I could find this treasure? Still, I DO have some time off coming up this summer…

MALARKEY FOR TODAY:

The guy who sang this iconic song that no one could understand the lyrics to, recently passed away:

1)   In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (Iron Butterfly)
2)   **** Louie Louie
3)   Blinded by the Light (Manfred Man)

**** The guy who sang "Louie Louie" has died at the age of 71.  His name was Jack Ely, and he was an original member ofThe Kingsmen . . . the group that released the song in 1963.  There's no word on a cause of death, but he'd been sick for some time.
