Platinum Award winning Blush Studios on West Division Street in Franklin Square is going to give you a free beauty consultation to determine what kind of makeover would be right for you – and then give you a free makeover!  Maybe a new haircut!  Highlights! Shaped brows and fun makeup!  The makeover will be geared toward what you are comfortable with and will still give you a whole new look!

Your BEFORE and AFTER look will be revealed on the air, and we’ll find out what Blush Studios did for you and how it makes you feel!

November makeover – Donna!

I went through lung cancer a few years ago and lost all my hair. I’m doing the best I can with all of my health issues. My body has taken a toll with everything. I haven’t gone anywhere or done anything for myself in long time. I would really love to go and get pampered for the day as I could really use it.

October makeover – Serena

I just had to have brain surgery and my hair is a mess. I’d love to not feel like a crazy person when I look in the mirror. I do not ever have time for ‘self care’ and I am beyond embarrassed to leave my house let alone go to work.

September Makeover: Annemarie!

I’m always my last priority. I know how important self care is, but I just don’t have the time or energy. I’ve been taking care of my father with dementia since 2020 when my mother passed away.  We have 4 dogs and I work a full time job, in addition to managing our household. I’m just exhausted & depressed most days, and I think a makeover would help my self-esteem.

I would love a new look this summer. I am working on myself and a fresh new look will help me focus more on doing that. I currently don’t get much “me” time because I am busy taking care of my special needs son. A makeover would be so much appreciated.

July Makeover – Brittney

After having two babies, who are now 4 & 6 and being a stay at home mom during that time, I am finally beginning to find myself. I have dyed my own hair in the past and cut it, and even gotten it professionally done once or twice in the last ten years. But, now that my kids are getting older, I am in college for a social work degree, and only working part time it seems financially unattainable to purchase anything new for myself. I can’t justify spending a hundred dollars or more on myself to look good. I could really use something to lift me up and boost my confidence during this chapter of my life.

June makeover – Carol

In July of 2023, my world literally collapsed. My young son, 33 yrs old, died suddenly of an accidental Fentanyl overdose while taking Xanax that was not prescribed to him. I feel that I have aged 10 years since that tragic day. I am 61 years old, have put on a little weight since then and have some telltale facial signs that definitely say I am not in my 30’s anymore. It seems that when I put my makeup on, it only accentuates the areas that bother me. I am really unsure how to wear make-up to help me look my best. I also color my hair to my “natural-ish” color – but it gets very brassy over time. I am letting it grow right now, to be able to maybe have a different style that is flattering. I would be so appreciative and grateful to be chosen for a makeover.

The last few years has been a challenge for me. After the loss of both my sister and my niece, I’ve found it difficult to prioritize my own well being. I believe a makeover could help shift my mindset towards restoring some of my self confidence. Thank you for your consideration.

April Makeover – Donna!

My name is Barbara Strail and I am nominating my Mom (Donna Strail). She is the most caring, loving, selfless, giving and amazing woman I’ve ever known. She worked at the Camden Elementary School in the Cafeteria for over 30 years. She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2000 and due to lymphedema in her arm, her doctor pulled her from work on disability. She never felt like she had her last day at work and always missed the kids. She has volunteered for the last 8 years at the same elementary school during lunch time. She is essential for all the kids that can’t open the ketchup packets, milks, need straws or just needs a hug because they can’t stop crying when they miss their Moms. She is an avid crocheter and makes crocheted hair ribbons for the little girls with pony tails and wrist bands for the boys. They all have to learn the secret for receiving these gifts and it all comes down to please and thank you. She always thinks of others before herself and deserves to have people put her first. This is an amazing contest and I thank you for considering my Mom!!

March Makeover – Andrea!

I’ve had the same look for many years. I’ve always put everyone else first. I am 41 years old. I had my first child at 16 and my second at 21. I’ve never kept up with the latest styles or fashion. Both of my kids are out of the house now and I guess it’s time for me. I would love to start with a new look. It’s ME time.

February Makeover – Lindsey!

This past year has been tough and my hair especially has taken somewhat of a back set to the rest of life.
I have been navigating being a single mom of a now 13 yr old daughter, and a 6 yr old son, since the sudden passing of their dad, and my soul mate of 14 yrs, last July. My hair is thick, coarse and I have a TON of hair. Although I go to salons, I really have not found someone that can make my hair look healthy, smooth, shiny and embrace the natural color path of gray that my hair took in my early 20’s. My fiancé was a barber. He loved to help care for my hair, with conditioning, straightening, styling (as he would do with our daughter as well). I think that if I could get a makeover, that would give my hair the Jumpstart it needs to be healthy, I would be able to keep up with it and it would make me feel better about my appearance.

From Amy’s Daughter: I’m nominating my mom for a makeover, I love her and she thinks she is fashionable but it’s not always the case. She just started a new job and she is the face they see when they come into the office. She needs some help updating and learning makeup, while I am a licensed esthetician I don’t practice and makeup isn’t my thing. My teenage sisters try to help her but she needs some help. She has another grandbaby coming soon. She deserves this. Please help my mom learn to love herself again and look professional.

December Makeover – Kim!

I am a single mom of a 20 year old son who lives with me and he is a volunteer Firefighter/ EMT,so I volunteer with the auxiliary, I work Fulltime, I am in a relationship with a wonderful man who says he doesn’t care what my hair or body look like. But in 2020 I was diagnosed with Breast cancer had a double mastectomy and my self esteem is pretty low. I am a happy out going person and I try to help everyone. I do not have a lot of time or knowledge on how to style my hair and only ever wear eye makeup. I need a pick me up! In need of a rescue!

November Makeover – April!

Please help!! We all know kids are the most honest people, too honest most of the time. My five year old randomly told me I need a makeover. He said my hair needs some pink ( not needed but I am open to ideas lol), and to make my face not old anymore. Not sure how much you can help with that, but I’ve always looked the same my whole life and I’m ready to surprise my little one with a new mommy as recommended by him. I am almost forty and would love the opportunity to look as young as I feel some days. I’ve seen the previous magic be done by you girls, and no way you can disappoint. I never had a woman figure in my life so I never know how to do my hair or make or a style of clothes. I try to watch videos and mock what I see for hair do’s. Sounds like a relaxing fun way to find a good look. As all of my children are grown with just one teen boy left at home it’s time to find myself. Thank you for this opportunity!

September Makeover – Kelly!

I have been in a rut since COVID. I stopped highlighting my hair, I rarely style it. It is either clipped back off my face or pulled back. I have spent the last 3 years splitting my time between my own home and with my father. The last 6 months have been primarily spent with my father as his primary care taker. He lives 2 1/2 hour from my home so spending time with my own family has also taken a back burner and it is getting harder emotionally on me. I need a pick me up and a makeover sounds like a great one!

August makeover – Pam!

I would really love a new look because it would give me some confidence that I have really been lacking the past few years. I got married young (when I was 19). And had my son at the same time…and about 6 years ago I went through a bad divorce. Also my son has since grown up and moved out and I live alone now. I did date at first a little bit but didn’t have any luck. Well it has been over 3 years and I have not attempted dating. I feel very self-conscious about my appearance and I feel this makeover might help me feel more confident and hopefully ready to get back out there. I am lonely and wish I could find my person with whom I can spend my life with. I work as a registered nurse in Camillus and I don’t always have a lot of time to spend on my appearance. I am usually taking care of others and putting myself last.

The past three years have taken a toll on my mental/physical/and spiritual well-being. Amongst the myriad of situations, I have been tested by the Universe in the most adverse ways possible including divorce, job changes, having to move 5 times…yes I said that correctly- FIVE. TIMES. and realizing that while I am doing my best to make it through it all… I look like an absolute wreck now. I swear it feels like I’ve aged 10 years. Working in the Health Care Industry, I don’t exactly feel up to taking the extra time to look my best either… so my dreadlocks have gone un-maintained, and I need to hit the reset button. I am ready for a big change, as I prepare to finalize my divorce, get a fresh new start, and elevate myself to a new level in life.
I listen to Ted and Amy every morning- and never thought I’d find myself reaching out in this way, but time to allow the help of others to carry me to my next chapter in life.

When it comes to hair and make up, I have no clue where to start. I work around kids all day then retail at night. My hair usually ends up on the top of my head. I’d love for someone to tell me what style and color would look good on me. I have a few big milestones coming up this year. My daughter is graduating 4th grade, my stepdaughter is getting married in June and I’m turning 40 in July!! I would love to look my best at these big events coming up.

MARCH MAKEOVER – ROBIN!

I am craving a new look, a new “me”. I have two boys 8 and 3, which doesn’t give much time for pampering myself. I haven’t had a professional haircut or color in over 3 years. I wear my hair in a ponytail, because it looks really bad otherwise. It is very thin, stringy looking and brassy. I would like professional advice on what makeup to use and how to apply it. FEBRUARY MAKEOVER – AMY!

I just turned 55 and I’m a new grandma. I teach Kindergarten at Canastota Central Schools and the first thing I noticed when we got the school pictures back was that for the last 5 years (at least), mine all look the same, with the exception of the shirt I’m wearing. I am in desperate need of an upgrade. Having spent the last 28 years dedicating my world to my four amazing children, I’d like to take a minute for me. Winning this makeover would be amazing!

JANUARY MAKEOVER – EVELYN!

My name is Michael and I’m writing to nominate my mom for your makeover! I cannot recall the last time my mom got a haircut or treated herself to anything. Back in 2019 my beloved stepmother passed away, and left a huge void in our lives. Since then my mom took on raising my half brother as his mama was no longer with us. My mom has literally moved mountains to make sure my brother and I had all we needed. She puts herself last, always so I’m entering her in hopes she will come first this time. Funny enough, she unfortunately had to have major dental work and has been hiding in a mask since August. Today she will finally get her last step to her beautiful smile back. This would just be the cherry on top. Waiting 40 years to be able to smile without being teased. Thank you for considering this!!

DECEMBER MAKEOVER – MARY!

I work from home and don’t use any kind of video chat, so I have no reason to really dress up or put on any makeup. It’s been that way since the pandemic started. I’m in a very slow process of ending a 20-year relationship. It’s complicated and exhausting. Over the last year I have lost 86 pounds so far. I’m really working at improving myself for my life going forward. I think a makeover would just be fun and make me feel good. I’m up for anything. Cut my hair. Color it purple. I am a blank canvas at this point, so anything goes.

My name is Carrie. I have Turners Syndrome and I never have had great self-esteem or confidence that I look pretty or beautiful. I do not feel beautiful most of the time. I had open heart surgery this past May 2023 and that really took a toll on me and my confidence as well.  I would love to look and feel beautiful!
