About Me:
Well, for starters, I am a native of Central New York. I grew up in CNY and even as a little kid I'd walk around the house with a microphone in my hand... or lock myself in my room and pretend I was a DJ. So I guess it's only natural that I went into radio. I'm sure my parents must of thought I was wierd... but look at me now! I got an early start in media as I worked in local television at the age of 15. I worked cameras, audio, lighting, video, YOU NAME IT and I did it.
Then it was time for college and I went off to Buffalo to study at University at Buffalo. While out there, I worked at a couple different stations (rock and jazz) as well as being the Operations Manager for the student-run radio station at UB. I met some amazing people back then... Nirvana... Goo Goo Dolls... Pearl Jam... As a college kid who was interested in music and radio ... meeting all of these famous people was the coolest thing ever. I knew I wanted to be a radio DJ!! Actually... a funny story... my old college roommate knew the guys from Soundgarden and they were supposed to move us from one house to another!!! I was like "YEAH RIGHT" but he swore they were going to come help us use their van to move. "suuuuuure". But their van broke down in Ohio... "yes, and I have ice cubes to sell an eskimo!!". I knew for sure that he was just kidding with me because I was young and naive... that was until I met all the guys a month later. They apologized and said that we'd all have to hang out the next time they played close to Buffalo. It was then that I learned never to d o u b t Jon again. Ever.
So, I came back to Syracuse and worked with 2 local college radio stations. But I wanted to get back on-air. I started developing and hosting the 93Q website before jumping back on-air in early 2001. It's hard to imagine that I've been on-air 5 years already... seems like it was just yesterday. Time flies when you're having fun!
Anyhow, I work for 93Q in addition to a my day-job as a techie computer engineer. When I'm not working, I absolutely love enjoying CNY summers!! If I could, I'd spend every waking moment out on my b o a t or just outside anywhere enjoying the weather. That's the best part about living here is summertime... oh and the friendly people here. I also love seeing bands, travel, and relaxing with friends.
