CRUNCH TIME FOR YOUR COSTUMES

I'm glad I haven't been invited to any Halloween parties this year, because I am absolutely stumped for a costume and Halloween is only three days away!. This is why I don't dress up for Halloween anymore. Well, that, and I'm 48 years old! But, if I had to come up with a costume, I'd have NO clue. I know there'll be a million "Balloon Boy" outfits out there, and the recent passing of half of Hollywood frees up a lot of "Dead Celebrity" costumes, but nothing seems that original. This has always been my problem with coming up with a costume. I love the costume rental places, but I need a rather "larger than normal" size, and if I don't order it by Labor Day, there'll be nothing left for me to rent. I've been there before. All they have left at this point are child size vampire fangs and rainbow-colored afro wigs. Do you know how many times I've been the gay vampire with too small teeth at costume parties? And I'm just not that clever when it comes to creating my own costume, either. You've seen these people with elaborate costumes that make it look like they're a floating head on a platter, or they're stuck in a toilet, or they're giving birth to themselves. I just can't compete. Which is why, if you come trick or treating to my house this year, don't be surprised if a great big guy answers the door looking like a cross between Baby Dracula and a circus clown...BTW...if you think Halloween is for kids, think again.  New retail numbers say about 50% of the money spend on costumes is for adults.  In total, retailers expect us to spend about 4.8-billion dollars on the holiday this week.  That’s down slightly from last year…but there’s the economy thing, you know.

            Trick or Treat!

GAME ONE OF THE WORLD SERIES TONIGHT
Tonight, Game One of the World Series gets underway as the NY Yankees host the Philadelphia Phillies on FOX. We have a co-worker, Andy, who is the BIGGEST Yankees fan ever. In fact, he's vowed NOT to cut his hair until the Yanks win the World Series. He hasn't cut his hair since the Giants won the Superbowl LAST YEAR!  It's past his shoulders now, and he's planning on donating it to Locks Of Love if and when he cuts it. Here's his picture...

Okay, that's not his real hair, BUT IT'S CLOSE! Good luck Yankees...

AMY'S NEW FAVORITE SHOW
Amy absolutely LOVES the new FOX show Glee! Back in the day, you'd ask a musician if they were happy with the way their song was performed on American Idol.  But these days, you've got to ask them if they were happy with the way their song was performed on Glee, Fox's newest hit show about a struggling high school glee club.  You can count BON JOVI among the stars who really loved their Glee spot -- a couple weeks ago, the male cast members performed a truly memorable mash-up of their hit "It's My Life" and the song "Confessions Pt. II" by USHER. JON BON JOVI tells us, "I thought it was hysterical. It was great!...I got a kick out of it.  It goes to show how magical it is when those songs cross over to, y'know, 'sitcom land.'  That's wild!" Glee isn't the only TV show on which you'll be hearing Bon Jovi, though.  The band is the first-ever "Artist In Residence" on NBC, which means their music will be popping up all over the network and its cable channels, and the band will appear on NBC's Today show every week in November.  Why did Bon Jovi sign a deal like that?  Jon explains, "In this day and age, it's harder and harder to market a record, so when this opportunity came up...we thought, 'Why not?'  We're very proud of the record, so let's get it out there as many ways as we can."
